Uttaranchal emerged from UP state as the 27th state of India with comprising of 13 Districts on 9th November 2000. Mr. Surjeet Singh Barnala was appointed as the first Governor and Mr. Nityanand Swami was appointed as the First Chief Minister of the state. Dehradun is the Capital of Uttaranchal.
